Arkansas fans calmer after Diamond Hogs deny LSU a sweep

Despite Hog fans' overall displeasure with Arkansas' performance in the series against LSU, the Game 3 win offers a glimmer of hope: a new winning streak to close the regular season.

The No. 7 Arkansas Razorbacks (41-11, 18-9 SEC) defeated the No. 3 LSU Tigers (40-12, 17-10 SEC) 7-4 in Game 3 of the weekend series in Baton Rouge, taking sole possession of second place in the SEC standings and halting more negative criticism from Hog fans on social media.

After the Hogs dominantly swept Texas last weekend, Razorback Nation prepared itself for that momentum to propel them to a series victory against the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge. Unfortunately for Arkansas fans, their team packed their bags for Fayetteville with only one win, which is anticlimactic, to say the least.

One positive takeaway from Game 3 for the Razorbacks is the excellent pitching performance from their bullpen: only Aiden Jimenez surrendered a run. Dylan Carter, Christian Foutch, Cole Gibler, and Parker Coil pitched scoreless innings in relief for starting pitcher Landon Beidelschies, who lasted only 2.0 innings and allowed three earned runs and four hits. As Arkansas heads into its final three games of the regular season, an SEC series at Baum-Stadium against the No. 17 Tennessee Volunteers, its starting pitchers must deliver more innings with far better pitching.

If the Razorbacks don't win the 2025 SEC Tournament and 2025 College World Series, one can expect that it will not be Nate Thompson's offense to blame; it will be poor output from starting pitchers. Given this, Dave Van Horn must be unafraid to employ his elite bullpen when a starting pitcher shows signs of struggle. With such a talented bullpen, pitching by committee is not an act of desperation; it's a winning strategy to force opposing teams to face as many of Arkansas' best players as possible.

After winning Game 3 against the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, the Arkansas Razorbacks gave their fans reasons to share positive social media reactions.
