Diamond Hogs got spanked in Game 2 against LSU, deflating Razorback Nation

The No. 7 Arkansas Razorbacks picked the wrong team, the No. 3 LSU Tigers, to give their first demonstrably limited effort in a game this season.

While the No. 7 Arkansas Razorbacks (40-11, 17-9 SEC) lost a close 5-4 Game 1, one they should have won against the No. 3 LSU Tigers (40-11, 17-9 SEC), the Hogs were run-ruled 13-3 in Game 2 in the seventh inning, and many Arkansas fans expressed great disappointment on social media about this embarrassing performance.

Yes, you read that correctly: The Arkansas Razorbacks, a baseball team many across the nation have identified as one of the top contenders to make it to Omaha and win the 2025 College World Series, got run-ruled by their rivals, the LSU Tigers, 13-3 in the seventh inning of Game 2. After losing the first two games of this series in Baton Rouge, the Hogs have lost four of their last five SEC weekend series.

While many in Razorback Nation on social media started planning their trip to Omaha to watch the Hogs win the 2025 College World Series after sweeping the No. 1 Texas Longhorns in dominant fashion, one can only hope that after another SEC weekend series defeat, one with a shameful run-rule loss, Hog fans will exercise more caution about the team's postseason prospects. Although the Razorbacks can win the 2025 College World Series, the Hogs' Game 2 whipping in Baton Rouge and losing four of the last five SEC weekend series should temper everyone's judgment about Arkansas's potential postseason success.

Although many in Razorback Nation love to criticize Nate Thompson about Arkansas's offensive production, they overlook how the team's starting pitchers often force his offense to overcome early deficits. In Game 2, starting pitcher Gage Wood generated such an early deficit. In the first two innings, Wood surrendered four runs and four hits; two of those four hits were homers. Such poor starting pitching doesn't bode well for success on the road in the SEC against the third-ranked team in the country.

After the No. 7 Arkansas Razorbacks laid a metaphorical egg in Game 2 against the No. 3 LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, many in Razorback Nation used social media to express disappointment with the Hogs' embarrassing effort.
