After hearing nothing but bad news since Arkansas basketball's exit from the NCAA Tournament, Hogs fans have their second win in the transfer portal. Former Florida State forward Malique Ewin has committed to the Razorbacks.

Malique Ewin commits to Arkansas

In an otherwise lackluster offense, Ewin was one of the only bright spots on the team. He averaged 14.2 points a game at a 59.6 percent clip with the Seminoles and cleaned up a healthy 7.6 boards in 2025. With only one attempt from the 3-point line, he's a true scoring big at 6-foot-11, 230 pounds. Ewin recorded nine double-doubles, including a 20-point, 10-rebound game in only 23 minutes against Miami. Even more impressive is his 92 offensive rebounds, 40 more than anyone on Arkansas' team in three fewer games.

Arkansas will be Ewin's fourth school in as many years. He initially committed to Ole Miss out of high school, where he averaged 5.9 minutes in 14 games. His best performance was versus UCF, scoring 10 points and recording five rebounds. After his freshman season, he transferred to South Plains, a junior college out of Levelland, Texas, where he earned a No. 1 ranking in junior college ranks, according to 247Sports. He was rated .9623 4-star out of high school by 247Sports' Composite rankings.

With Arkansas losing Zvonimir Ivisic to the portal and Jonas Aidoo to eligibility — and with no bigs in the 2025 freshman class — head coach John Calipari needed to build up his frontcourt quickly. Right now, the only player left is Trevon Brazile, and Ewin is the first step in offering him some help if he decides to stay with the Razorbacks one more season.
