Lane Kiffin faking heath instead of injuries? Simmons available despite reports

When the Arkansas Razorbacks step on the field against the Ole Miss Rebels, they must prepare to battle a team that's nearly fully healthy.

The Arkansas Razorbacks (2-0, 0-0 SEC) and No. 17 Ole Miss Rebels are moments away from their clash in Oxford, Mississippi. Although much speculation surrounded whether the Rebels' starting quarterback, Austin Simmons, would play this evening, the final verdict on his status has been rendered.

According to the final SEC Student-Athlete Availability Report ahead of this battle between two undefeated SEC teams, Simmons no longer appears on the injury report. Therefore, the Razorbacks' defense must contend with his talent to pull off the upset. Given that Lane Kiffin has faced questions about having his players be intentional about faking injuries to gain a competitive advantage, Simmons' health status reasonably raises similar questions about being employed for a potential competitive advantage.

Understanding Kiffin's tactics well, Trey Biddy, Publisher of Hawg Sports, has concerns about whether he used Simmons' health status to raise doubts about whether he would play or how healthy he would be if he plays.

The purpose of this piece is to provide an understanding of how healthy the Arkansas Razorbacks and Ole Miss Rebels will be when they clash this evening.

Arkansas Razorbacks football vs. Ole Miss Rebels Injury Report

Ole Miss Rebels

When Kiffin's team steps on their home field, their starting quarterback, Austin Simmons, will be available. However, they will not have cornerback Jaylon Braxton, who is a former Hog. Also, they will be without wide receiver Traylon Ray.

Arkansas Razorbacks

The Razorbacks will arrive on the field in poorer health condition than Ole Miss. The Hogs have five players who are out for this evening's game: defensive lineman Kavion Henderson, wide receivers Monte Harrison, Ismael Cisse, and Antonio Jordan, and running back Cam Settles.

Fortunately for Arkansas, defensive tackle David Oke is not listed on the injury report. Therefore, he may supply the team's defensive line with the added support it needs to place pressure on Kiffin's potent offense. The Razorbacks' defensive line has not generated enough pressure on opposing offenses this season, which makes the secondary vulnerable against the pass. With Oke likely to see action in this game, one can expect the defensive line to improve its performance against Ole Miss to increase the team's chances of an upset.
