Rumors have been flying in recent weeks about who the Arkansas football team might end up going after and one name on the list has been Ed Orgeron. Wait, what in the world? That's what everyone has been thinking and some people have even laughed that idea off.

This week, Pete Nakos dropped a major report on who Arkansas has been in contact with and you guessed it, Orgeron indeed has been in communication with the Razorbacks. That fact alone is head-turning, as Arkansas wants to make a splash hire here. Will Orgeron end up getting an offer?

Arkansas and Oregon State are showing interest in potentially hiring Ed Orgeron
Orgeron was beloved all over Baton Rouge during his time leading the Tigers, but he was fired after things went south pretty quickly. He hasn't been a head coach since he was fired following the 2021 season, but he's clearly interested in getting back on the sidelines.
Arkansas isn't the only program showing interest in him, however, as Nakos has also reported that the Oregon State Beavers are also giving him a look. The Beavers are getting ready for a new era, as Oregon State is going back to a rebuilt Pac-12 in 2026.
However, the Razorbacks could be a bit more of a sexy option for Coach O, as you've got to imagine he'd prioritize a return to the SEC over making the move to Corvallis. It wasn't that long ago that Orgeron and LSU were on top of the college football world.
In 2019, LSU went a perfect 15-0 and won the national title. It was a year to remember, but people were left stunned after he was then out of a job after the 2021 campaign. Orgeron is ready for his next shot and Arkansas wants to make a statement in finding a Sam Pittman replacement. Could this be a match made in heaven?
