News broke on Tuesday afternoon that Freshman guard Boogie Fland would enter the transfer portal with a 'do not contact tag' only a few weeks after declaring for the 2025 NBA draft. His decision came at the 11th hour as the transfer portal window closed Tuesday night.

Boogie Fland enters the transfer portal

According to Jon Rothstein, despite his late entry, Fland doesn't plan to use the transfer portal and is '100 percent focused' on staying in the 2025 draft. In the small chance the former 5-star and McDonald All-American isn't drafted, the transfer portal keeps his options open.

Arkansas head coach John Calipari all but confirmed that in a post on X (formerly Twitter), shining light on the situation. "Been talking with Boogie [Fland] the last few days," wrote Calipari. "I fully expect that he is going to be a first-round draft pick. I’ve coached players with his talent and know how they are doing in the NBA, he has 'IT'. He also knows I will always be here for him."

As a Razorback, Fland averaged 13.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game in a limited season due to injury. He made 37.9 percent of his shots from the field and 34 percent from deep.

Fland led Arkasnas in its first 18 games, helping the Razorbacks to a 10-2 nonconference record before dropping the first five SEC games for the first time in school history. However, the Bronx, N.Y., native injured his thumb against Florida and tried to push through it. But against Missouri, it was evident that the injury was taking its toll on Fland. He underwent surgery, and many thought his season was over.

Fortunately, the Razorbacks made it to the NCAA Tournament without Fland for most of the SEC schedule. On Selection Sunday, the team announced that Fland would indeed suit up for the tournament, where he played for 20-plus minutes against Kansas and St. Johns—and nine in Arkansas' loss to Texas Tech in the Sweet Sixteen.
