Arkansas basketball’s struggles are getting worse. Last night, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein of CBS reported that Boogie Fland will miss the remainder of the season with a hand injury.
John Calipari’s gamble to settle for 9 DI-level players this season is not paying off, with the Hogs starting 0-5, and now, their starting point guard is reportedly out for the season. Arkansas is left with only two guards who’ve played significant minutes — DJ Wagner and Johnell Davis. Neither have lived up to the hype that preceded them entering the season.
Although his decision hasn’t officially been made, Fland is a one-and-done talent, so it’s likely that the last time Razorback fans will see him in an Arkansas uniform was last Saturday against Mizzou. He’ll finish the season averaging 15.1 points, 39.1 percent from the field, 36.5 from three, 3.4 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.5 steals.
