The Arkansas Razorbacks 17-11 (6-9 SEC) had a classic battle with their bitter rivals, the Texas Longhorns 16-12 (5-10 SEC), in Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville. Although the Razorbacks had little trouble defeating the Longhorns in Austin in the previous clash, Arkansas had to face Texas without its leader in steals, scoring, rebounding, and field goal shooting percentage: Adou Thiero. Thiero suffered an injury in the Hogs' upset victory over the Missouri Tigers in Bud Walton Arena.

Arkansas performed brilliantly in the first half. The Razorbacks achieved the three keys to victory over Texas in the first half. Meeting the challenges of these three keys to the game earned the Razorbacks a 12-point lead over the Longhorns entering halftime, 42-30. However, the Hogs were exhausted in the second half, operating with only a seven-man rotation. ESPN revealed that Texas won the second half 39-27, which led to overtime. In overtime, the Razorbacks delivered a courageous team effort that led to an 86-81 victory over the Longhorns. Arkansas fans and media expressed on social media how thrilled they were with the Razorbacks' win against the Longhorns.
