The Razorbacks might've missed their leading scorer tonight, but it didn't matter. Arkansas outlasts Texas in overtime, 86-81.
While he was mostly quiet in the second half, the lone stayover from the Musselman era, Trevon Brazile, finally had a great game. He jumpstarted the scoring with back-to-back three-point buckets. It's the game he needed to have — and more — with Adou Thiero being out.
Brazile and Zvonimir Ivisic successfully stretched the Longhorns in the first half, but it didn't immediately result in easy looks in the post. Arkansas only scored eight of its 42 first-half points in the paint, while Texas scored 20.
The Hogs came out of the locker flat, though; they scored only 27 points in the second period and allowed Texas to catch up, giving up 39 points. However, it was mostly on the back of the Horns' star freshman Tre Johnson. He scored 17 points in the second half and all 12 of the Longhorns' overtime points, finishing with 39 points, nearly half of Texas' total.
On the other hand, Arkansas spread the love around with Johnell Davis and Ivisic scoring six and seven points, respectively.
The Hogs will travel to the bottom of the SEC to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. USC may be the worst team in the conference, but in a year where the SEC is rivaling football for its interconference dominance, Arkansas can't take a breather. Just ask Texas how it went for them.
