The duds outweighed the studs in Arkansas football's game against Ole Miss

Believe it or not, there were a few studs in Arkansas's 63-31 loss to Ole Miss.

After the Arkansas Razorbacks suffered a blowout, 63-31, in Fayetteville, Ark. against Ole Miss, one might think that the whole team deserves to be considered duds. While it is easy to identify many duds from today’s game for Arkansas, not all players merit such a designation.

To be clear, though, many Arkansas fans and Arkansas sports journalists do not have much positive to say about the Hogs after such a wretched showing at home today. Such disappointment evidences that they know this team is capable of much better; less passionate responses would indicate that they know this team should have been blown out today.

Studs and Duds: Arkansas football vs Ole Miss

Studs

Andrew Armstrong

No matter the opponent, Andrew Armstrong comes ready to play. Unfortunately, he did not have an offensive line prepared to play to give the quarterback time to target him more. According to ESPN, Armstrong had six receptions for 135 yards, including one 43-yard reception, for an average of 22.5 yards per reception.

Malachi Singleton

After Taylen Green was injured in this game, Malachi Singleton demonstrated that he was prepared to lead the team. He played inspired football. According to ESPN, Singleton completed 11 of 14 passes for 207 yards and scored a rushing touchdown. Therefore, he completed 78.6 % of his passes against an excellent Ole Miss defense. If more of his teammates had some of the energy and resolve he brought to the field, the Hogs would have had a legitimate chance to upset the Rebels.

Rashod Dubinion

Just as Andrew Armstrong and Malachi Singleton brought the necessary spirit and determination to pull off an upset against Ole Miss, Rashod Dubinion ran the ball fearlessly and delivered the physicality one expects from a quality SEC running back. According to ESPN, Dubinion had 12 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown. While those numbers may not dazzle most people, his winning attitude and physical play warrant him being considered a stud.

With most Arkansas players not exhibiting the readiness and inspiration to meet the Rebels' challenge today, Armstrong, Singleton, and Dubinion are the studs who merit praise for playing to win today.
