Disgusted.
That's how I feel after watching what happened in Fayetteville this afternoon. Ole Miss isn't as good as the game indicated, nor as its record suggests. Its numbers are hyperinflate from a Charmin-soft schedule that includes a loss from Kentucky, one of the worst teams in the SEC. There's no conceivable reason that allows the Rebels to hang 63 points on Arkansas. Yet, here we are.
I didn't even pick the Hogs to win this week. I thought Arkansas's defense was exposed against LSU, but I never thought it'd be this bad. Ole Miss threw for 562 yards against the Hogs, giving up 254 yards and five touchdowns to one player, Jordan Watkins. Most teams don't record that much in a game.
The offense doesn't know how to get out of its own way. The Hogs had ten penalties — six in the first quarter — with many being presnap infractions. The stat sheet only says two fumbles, but the Hogs can't hold onto the ball. It's not just one play, either.
The entire squad seems determined not to play well sometimes. It is infuriating. How else can a team consistently gain 450-plus yards a game and still lose in the fashion they do?
This program has a lot to think about in the next two weeks. Arkansas is on a bye next Saturday, and in two weeks, they welcome Texas back to Fayetteville since the Razorbacks embarrassed them on the national stage in 2021. You can expect Steve Sarkisian to look for payback.
