Arkansas Razorback Football: Winners from loss to LSU

The Arkansas Razorbacks lost a close one to the LSU Tigers in a battle for the boot. The Razorbacks have now lost five straight to LSU. However, the hogs played a great game and had some good individual performances.
This Arkansas Razorbacks continue to play their tails off week after week, and did the same against the defending champions.
There were several plays in this game, that didn’t go the hogs way but should have. The targeting call on Jalen Catalon was one that should definitely be reviewed by the SEC, considering Catalon didn’t lead with his helmet or shoulder. That call will effect the hogs in the first half of next week, as Jalen will not be able to play until after halftime.
Despite the SEC officiating, Arkansas still had somewhat of a chance in this game. The Razorbacks also had some great individual performances that fans should give fans hope for the future.
Arkansas Winners
TJ Hammonds, RB/WR
TJ had a huge impact on this game, and made incredible plays when he was on the field. Hammonds big 50 yard reception to end the third quarter was one we have yet to see from him this season. Kendal Briles did a great job of getting him installed into the game plan. Especially at a time when the offense was missing speedster De’Vion Warren, who will be out for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL.
With Boyd out and Smith starting, he got a chance to run the ball and showed out. His one carry went for 30 yards, and also put the hogs in scoring position.
If Briles can continue to get Hammonds involved, he can be a great addition to the Arkansas offense that is progressing every week.
Mike Woods, WR
It is easy to say that Mike Woods was probably the best offensive player for Arkansas today. It seems like every game he has a big play on the sideline, that impacts the game in a huge way. This game he had two big sideline catches, one that went for 28 yards in the third quarter.
Woods also had a big reception that put the hogs on the one yard line, allowing Smith to run in for the touchdown.
Arkansas lost this game in the end but made some huge improvements on offense, which has been a focus of improvement throughout the season.
The hogs will look to take on Missouri on Saturday, where Defensive Coordinator Barry Odom will play his old team.
