The SEC honors two Razorbacks with SEC Play of the Week
The gifts keep coming after Arkansas knocked off No. 4 Tennessee on Saturday. Two hogs were given SEC honors on the following Monday.
Fernando Carmona Jr. earned co-SEC, along with Gunnar Hansen from Vanderbilt. The transfer from San Jose State has been lauded since he arrived on campus. He’s been one of the team leaders, despite only being on the team since early spring.
After a disappointing showing by the offensive line against Texas A&M, the unit's pass protection improved tremendously, in small part thanks to Carmona. He is the first player from Arkansas to receive the honor since Ricky Stromberg in 2022.
Redshirt Freshman Malachi Singleton also earned SEC Freshman of the Week. While his stats don’t jump off the page, he was asked to jump into a difficult situation after Taylen Green was injured and led Arkansas’s offense on its final scoring drive that proved to be the final nail in the Vols' coffin.
Singleton also earned the Razorbackers Hog of the Week, along with true freshman Braylen Russell. The young quarterback had 31 yards passing with a 66.7 completion percentage. He also had 12 yards on the ground and the game-winning touchdown.
