Two underclassmen earn Co-Hog of the Week against Tennessee
For the first time, we couldn't choose just one representative for this week's Hog of the Week, and both just happened to be underclassmen.
The Hogs made history with last night's win against Tennessee, with Arkansas holding the Vols well shy of their average of 515 yards a game at 332 yards. The defense did a wonderful job of keeping Nico Iamaleava in check while the offense did just enough to win, gaining 431 total yards with 297 coming through the air.
While a few players like Talyen Green and Andrew Armstrong had great statistical games, this Co-Hogs of the Week goes to players who showed up when the situation called for it. On the final drive of the game for Arkansas, red shirt freshman Malachi Singleton and true freshman Braylen Russell led the Hogs 59 yards in four plays, capping it off with a touchdown.
After struggling to acclimate when Green went down with an injury, Singleton hit Isaiah Sategna for a 24-yard tunnel screen and scored the touchdown at the end of the drive. Meanwhile, Russell was a tank, rushing for back-to-back double-digit-yard plays and running over Vols defenders in the process. The fact is, Arkansas wouldn't have won without their efforts.
