Over the last couple of seasons, the Arkansas football team has boasted a few athletic freaks. Third-round 2025 NFL draft picks Isaac TeSlaa and Landon Jackson were two named in The Athletic's Bruce Feldman's College Football Freaks list in 2023 and 2024. However, in this year's addition, there are no Razorbacks to be found.
Zero Arkansas football players land on The Athletics College Football Freaks list
It's not because Arkansas lacks its share of freaks. Hog freshman Shaq McRoy is literally a mountain with legs. At 6-foot-8, 340 pounds, he's big, strong, and quick for his size. Staying on the big side of the freakish scale, Razorback defensive lineman Ian Geffrard is also a gargantuan human being. At 6-foot-5, 387 pounds, his ability to move the way he does is outstanding alone, but one of the most jaw-dropping stories of the 2023 recruiting cycle was when he did a handstand at that weight during his official visit.
Then there's Arkansas' quarterback Taylen Green. The Boise State transfer's first season on the Hill demonstrated his combination of speed and size with massive strides that fooled anyone trying to tackle him in the open field. In addition to his legs, he has a deadly, albeit inconsistent, arm, allowing him to attack opposing defenses in multiple ways. Some national analysts believe Green could be the best NFL draft prospect in the conference.
It's clear Arkansas has the freaks, so why weren't at least one included in The Athletic Senior Writer's list? Well, the answer is simpler than you would think, and maybe a bit disappointing.
Why Taylen Green wasn't included in Bruce Feldman's list
One fan took their frustration straight to the source, calling out the absence of Taylen Green from the list. It didn’t take long for Bruce Feldman to respond, offering a candid explanation just minutes later.
"Terrific athlete. Had him on there two years ago," wrote Feldman in response. "Reached out to folks at Arkansas a few times this summer, but never heard back."

Arkansas' media communications team missed on this one.
Of course, in the grand scheme of things, a silly list isn't the end-all be-all, but it was an opportunity to highlight one of Arkansas' best athletes in a national outlet. It would've offered at least some exposure for the Arkansas football Program and the athletes themselves.
Still, all three of the players listed above have the opportunity to show their freakish natures for millions to see all season long. And if they dominate, Bruce Feldman—and everyone else—won’t need an email to notice. They’ll have no choice.
