It's been a dreary weekend in Fayetteville, but the Arkansas baseball team braved the rain to take game one of its series against Missouri, 21-3 in seven innings.

Apart from a couple of walks in the third and fifth innings, Razorbacks' ace Zach Root was tremendous despite the slippery conditions. He retired the top and middle of the Tigers' order in the first and second innings, including three strikeouts looking. However, in the third and again in the fifth, Root slightly lost his control and found himself behind the batter in the count most of the inning.

Missouri couldn't even breathe after Root left after the fifth inning. Dylan Carter and Will McEntire came in relief, respectively, and closed the game without any trouble. Both pitchers struck out two batters and absent a hit or walk.

The rain never stunted the Razorbacks at the plate, either, although it was more or less Missouri's pitching that made 21 runs possible. Altogether, the Tigers' pitching staff walked the Hogs 14 times, hit the batter four times, and gave up bases on two errors. Still, Arkansas batters recorded 14 hits.

For all intents and purposes, it was a Logan Maxwell and Cam Kozeal game, reaching base on nearly all their appearances at the plate. Maxwell reached on four of his five opportunities and twice as a leadoff hitter. The first of which was a solo shot to Arkansas' bullpen — his ninth of the season.

Kozeal carried over his explosive performance against his former team, Vanderbilt, and reached on five of six appearances at the plate. However, he was responsible for five of Arkansas' 20 RBIs.

If the weather holds off, the Tigers and Hogs are set up for a doubleheader on Sunday, but first, let's relive last night's beating with some social media reactions.

Arkansas baseball social media reactions: Game one

With Tennessee's lost to Bottom-of-the-barrel Texas A&M, it looks like there'll be a new No. 1 in town.

Some fans pointed out that Arkansas baseball scored as many runs against Missouri as Arkansas football in November. However, the Diamond Hogs came out on top unlike their counterparts.

Fans showing no mercy

The game might've ended in with a mercy rule, but the fans — even some Mizzou fans — didn't get the memo.
