Social Media Reactions: Sam Pittman returning in 2025
When fans read McMurphy's post, most reacted negatively. They expressed 'disappointment'. One fan hollered a 'slap in the face' to the entire fanbase, and another called for a 'boycott' until Pittman was fired. You couldn't expect much better after fans were buying billboards calling for Pittman to be removed.
Among the disgruntled voices rang a call to cancel season tickets and donations to the Razorback's collective, Arkansas Edge. One way fans have a direct influence on decision-making is through the University's pocketbook, and many on X wanted to utilize that option.
Sam Pittman is 29-31, 14-28 in SEC play, through five seasons, with a 7-17 record in games decided by one score (8 points) or less. One group of fans pointed out that fact and the hypocrisy of the decision versus the ones for former head coaches.
Of course, it wouldn't be social media without a few trolls. Fans from around the country chimed in on McMurphy's post, calling Arkansas 'Committed to mediocrity'. Most were Mizzou fans praising the news because the Tigers have beaten Pittman in four of his five games against them.
