Earlier today, a report that Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman is likely staying through the 2025-26 football season. Fans from all over the state voice their opinions on social media. Most of them were not kind to the fifth-year head coach.
When Brett McMurphy of Action Network posted on X (formerly Twitter), swarms of angry Razorbacks fans flooded the comments. Along the Hogs fans came fans from around the country that were either astounded by the report or found it amusing, poking fun at the program.
Here are some of those reactions:
Social Media Reactions: Sam Pittman returning in 2025
When fans read McMurphy's post, most reacted negatively. They expressed 'disappointment'. One fan hollered a 'slap in the face' to the entire fanbase, and another called for a 'boycott' until Pittman was fired. You couldn't expect much better after fans were buying billboards calling for Pittman to be removed.

Turn it into a parking lot and give the money to basketball. @HunterYurachek @RazorbackFB pic.twitter.com/ovlJTceDpu

This is the most disappointing, let down about my Razorbacks as I’ve felt since Chad Morris 2nd year

Life long fan and im struggling to find a reason to support them next year. Feels like a slap in the face to the state and fanbase tbh

I hate it for the fans who didn’t listen.

Pittman was never walking away from an 8-figure buyout, and you can’t blame him. That’s just bad business.
He’s here until Jimmy Sexton stands over Yurachek’s shoulder and watches his tears fall onto a $12mm check. https://t.co/L51fPjTQrB
I will not be returning as a fan in 2025

FULL BOYCOTT UNTIL PITTMAN DISMISSAL
Among the disgruntled voices rang a call to cancel season tickets and donations to the Razorback's collective, Arkansas Edge. One way fans have a direct influence on decision-making is through the University's pocketbook, and many on X wanted to utilize that option.
Only way to make @HunterYurachek listen is to cancel your season tickets. Not showing up isn’t near as loud as actual missing revenue. https://t.co/gdV4cFilPa

I will not renew my season tickets.
— Brent Hull (@brenthull94) December 2, 2024
Arkansas is 1-7 at home vs P5 schools the last 2 years, averaging an 18pt loss. Not worth my time or money. @HunterYurachek
If I want to see us get our lone home win against Alabama A&M next year, I’ll buy tickets on StubHub for $5. https://t.co/q8Op1fHhx3
WE ARE NOT A SERIOUS PROGRAM.

Pulling my Arkansas Edge donation, and not renewing season tickets.
Arkansas fans, you do not matter. Your cries are not heard.
“GIVE US MORE MONEY. YOU ARE THE REASON WE ARE TERRIBLE. WE GOVE YOU NO HOPE, BUT YOU BETTER GIVE US MORE MONEY”
Sam Pittman is 29-31, 14-28 in SEC play, through five seasons, with a 7-17 record in games decided by one score (8 points) or less. One group of fans pointed out that fact and the hypocrisy of the decision versus the ones for former head coaches.
Sam Pittman is 14-28 overall vs SEC competition. He has only won 6 of his last 23 SEC games. His recruiting class is ranked 15th in the SEC, ahead of only Vanderbilt. There is zero positive momentum or confidence in Pittman or the football program. Of course he'll be back.
— Miranda Veracruz de la Hoya Cardinal (@jackschitt007) December 2, 2024
This is absurd. Bielema through 5 seasons at Arkansas was 29-34 (11-29 SEC) and was fired. Yet Pittman is 29-31 (14-28 SEC) and retains his job? Make it make sense, cause I can’t figure out why Arkansas would accept this fate. Please do the respectable thing and retire, Sam.

Of course, it wouldn't be social media without a few trolls. Fans from around the country chimed in on McMurphy's post, calling Arkansas 'Committed to mediocrity'. Most were Mizzou fans praising the news because the Tigers have beaten Pittman in four of his five games against them.
