The second week of the 2025 NCAA Baseball season has come to a close with a lot of shuffling going on in Southeastern Conference Power Rankings. This includes five teams in the SEC remaining undefeated.

SEC Baseball Power Rankings: Week one

Top 5

Tennessee and Arkansas remained as the top two teams in the SEC at the conclusion of Week 2. The Volunteers stayed at the top of the list by blowing out UNC Asheville at home, 29-4, while hitting five home runs. Tennessee also swept the Samford Bulldogs at Lindsey Nelson Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn. to improve to a perfect 7-0 on the year.

The Razorbacks started off their trip to Arlington, Texas, with a 3-2 loss to the Kansas State Wildcats on Friday night to open up the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field. The Hogs regrouped on Saturday night with a 2-1 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs thanks to a two-run double by Kuhio Aloy in the top of the seventh inning.

Sunday afternoon showcased Arkansas’ bats coming alive against the Michigan Wolverines, but not without some drama at the end. The Razorbacks held an 8-1 lead going into the sixth, but Michigan scored two in the sixth, one in the eighth and two in the ninth. The Wolverines had runners in scoring position with two outs, but RHP Tate McGuire got the Hogs out of the jam to pick up the 8-6 win to head back to Fayetteville.

Florida and Texas A&M flipped places at third and fourth, respectively. The Gators had some fun by run-ruling the Dayton Flyers in all three games over the weekend at Condron Family Ballpark. The Aggies defeated Cal Poly in the first two games of the three-game series but were upset on Sunday. Going into the top of the ninth, Texas A&M held a 2-0 lead with its eyes set on a sweep. The Mustangs rallied with a three-spot to take the lead, 3-2, and sat the Aggies down in order to secure the win.

Texas stayed at fifth in the rankings after handling its business against Dartmouth over the weekend at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. All three games were close, with the Longhorns having to mount a comeback on Saturday, 3-2.

Middle of the pack

Georgia and LSU flipped places again at sixth and seventh, respectively. The Bulldogs took a 6-4 win over Kennesaw State on the road in a heated matchup. The game included head coach Wes Johnson getting thrown out of the game in the top of the seventh inning with Georgia having to come back down 4-0. The Owls had runners on first and second in the bottom of the ninth with two outs. RHP Brian Curley made a comedic gesture to Donovan Cash at second base before striking out Cam Suto to end the contest. The Bulldogs returned home to sweep UIC in a four-game series at Foley Field.

LSU began the week by run-ruling Southern at home on Tuesday, 13-1, before heading into a three-game series against Omaha. The Tigers won the first game of the series on Friday, 4-2, at Alex Box Stadium. Saturday included a doubleheader where the Mavericks took a 5-4 upset victory in the first game. LSU regrouped and blew out Omaha, 12-1, to take the series.

Vanderbilt stays at number eight on the list after sweeping its two-game midweek series over the Air Force Falcons and sweeping its three-game weekend series over Saint Mary’s at Charles Hawkins Field.

Alabama and South Carolina made huge jumps in the rankings to ninth and 10th, respectively, with both teams flaunting a perfect 8-0 record. The Crimson Tide run-ruled Middle Tennessee on Tuesday and Alabama State on Wednesday at home in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Alabama proceeded to sweep the competition over the weekend in the Jacksonville Classic with wins over Coastal Carolina, No. 12 North Carolina State and Ohio State.

The Buckeyes were up 10-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning until the Crimson Tide put together some huge rallies. In the bottom of the ninth while down 10-9, Will Hodo hit a walk-off three-run blast to left center to complete the comeback and hand Alabama the victory, 12-10, at 121 Financial Park.

The Gamecocks took a 5-3 road win over the Winthrop Eagles on Tuesday and returned home to pick up a 7-2 win over the Queens Knights. South Carolina welcomed Milwaukee to Founders Park by sweeping the Panthers in a three-game series.

Oklahoma also moved up a spot to 11th place on our list after sweeping the competition in the Round Rock Classic. This includes a 3-2 win over Minnesota on Friday and upset victories over No. 7 Oregon State on Saturday and No. 2 Virginia on Sunday. Sunday’s contest against the Cavaliers went 12 innings until the Sooners walked it off on a bunt single by Dawson Willis and a throwing error at third base to win it, 5-4.

Auburn went down two spots in our rankings because Alabama, South Carolina and Oklahoma had more impressive wins over the week. The Tigers went 5-0 on the week and started off by knocking off the No. 24 Troy Trojans on Tuesday at home. Auburn walked it off in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single by Ike Irish with the bases loaded and nobody out to grab the upset victory over Troy, 7-6. The Tigers went on to defeat North Alabama on Wednesday, 6-2, and swept Wright State over the weekend in a three-game series to improve to 7-1 on the year.

Bottom of the barrel

Mississippi State dropped four spots in the rankings to 13th on our list. The Bulldogs started the week with a 3-0 loss on the road at the hands of Southern Miss in Hattiesburg, Miss. Mississippi State used this as fuel to sweep the Missouri State Bears at Dudy Noble Field in a three-game weekend series.

Kentucky and Ole Miss remained at 14th and 15th on the list, respectively. The Wildcats swept the Belmont Bruins on the road over the weekend in a three-game series in Nashville, Tenn. The Rebels went toe-to-toe with Arkansas State on Tuesday night, where Judd Utermark hit a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the 10th to edge the Red Wolves, 4-2. Ole Miss carried that momentum into the weekend by sweeping a three-game series against Eastern Kentucky at Swayze Field to finish out the week.

Missouri remains at the bottom of the list after winning two of four games in its trip to Florida. The Tigers lost to the UCF Knights in Orlando, Fla., 7-1, before heading into the Andre Dawson Classic in Vero Beach, Fla. at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex. Missouri took a 6-5 win against a scrappy Florida A&M team but was blown out on Saturday against Alabama State, 10-2. The Tigers ended the weekend with a 15-3, run-rule victory against the Southern Jaguars.
