The Arkansas Razorbacks football team is finally ready for fall camp, which means the kickoff of the 2026 season is just around the corner.
First-year head coach Ryan Silverfield has his hands full turning around a program that was winless in SEC play last season, but there's still plenty of reason to be hopeful about his time in Fayetteville. If the former Memphis Tigers coach wants to win in college football's toughest conference, he'll need to start by putting his best foot forward in fall camp.
Arkansas Razorbacks Football to begin fall camp on August 5
According to the official schedule released by the University of Arkansas, Silverfield will hold his pre-camp press conference at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 3. Players report to campus the next day before the Razorbacks conduct their first practice at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5.
The Hogs will hold nine practices before the 2026-27 school year begins, with most of those sessions scheduled for approximately 3:15 p.m. Arkansas has its first full-pads practice scheduled for August 11 before holding its first scrimmage on August 16. Razorback football practices will shift to the morning beginning on August 18.
Media members will be in attendance at 13 of Arkansas' first 15 practices. Position coaches, coordinators, and players will also be available throughout camp, beginning with defensive coordinator Ron Roberts and a few players following the opening session. Offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey will speak after the second practice, while special teams coordinator Chad Lunsford and Arkansas' specialists will be available after the third.
Arkansas' two scrimmages will be closed to the media. The first will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1 6, followed by another closed scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 22. The Hogs' practice on Aug. 23 will be the final session open to media before the team begins preparing behind closed doors for its season opener.
The Arkansas Razorbacks have plenty of questions to answer as Fall Camp gets underway, none of which are more pressing than the position battle unfolding at quarterback. Returning Razorback KJ Jackson and Memphis transfer AJ Hill are currently fighting to start Day 1 against the North Alabama Lions, and neither has taken a firm lead in the race as of yet.
The Hogs still have over a month before their first game, but considering the team has over 80 new players, they'll need all the reps they can get before the season kicks off.
Elsewhere, the Hogs still have major question marks at offensive line, wide receiver, and the defensive secondary, making fall camp all the more important for the underdog squad. North Alabama might not be much of a test for the team (although that's no guarantee), but the Razorbacks' Week 2 matchup at Utah will require them to be at their best.
Ryan Silverfield makes his Razorback coaching debut at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5 in what will be the beginning of a new era for Arkansas football. A good fall camp won't fix all the team's issues, but it might just give Silverfield a fighting chance against the hardest schedule in college football.
