One Arkansas track and field star claimed her first world record yesterday.

In the mixed 4x400, Kaylyn Brown ran the anchor for the United States in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The size of the lead gained by Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, and Bryce Deadman grew even further when she took the baton. The US won their heat by over three seconds and broke the world record with a time of 3:07.41.

Unfortunately, the squad only took home silver. In the final heat, the US led the entire race until the last 20 meters. Femke Bol of The Netherlands caught Brown in the final stretch and won gold with a time of 3:07.43, while the US ran 3:07.74. Great Britain took the bronze, running 3:08.01.

Regardless, it was the first time competing in the Olympics for Little and Brown. And to break the world record in their first-ever race was outstanding. Hopefully, it's just the start for the two Olympians.
