Razorback baseball has been very at one thing over the past few years, and that is producing elite pitchers. Arkansas pitcher Gabe Gaeckle seems to be the next one up. He was named a freshman All-American by D1 Baseball, the third honor of its kind this season for him.
In his first season with the Hogs, Gaeckle pitched 42 2/3 innings in 22 games, recording an ERA of 2.32, striking out 57 batters, and walking only 19. As a freshman, he earned seven saves, including three SEC games. His performance against Mississippi was arguably his most influential contribution.
Arkansas began to slide with a series loss to Kentucky, and with Texas A&M at College Station as the finale, the Hogs had to protect their home field against Mississippi State to stand a chance at clenching a national seed. Gaeckle played in two games that series for the second time in 2024 (Auburn) and pitched 3 1/3 combined. In the last game, he closed out Arkansas's 9-6 comeback victory to take the series.
The other first-team pitchers include Aidan Knaak (Clemson), Chase Morgan (Louisiana), Jason Decaro (UNC), Kenton Deverman (Evansville), Dominic Voegele (Kansas), and Jacob Dudan (NC State).
