Arkansas football has dropped the ball on another recruit, this time in the class of 2026. Bear McWhorter announced on X that he has decommitted from the University of Arkansas.

"De-committing is something that never even crossed my mind last August when I committed to the Razorbacks. Even now, my love for the Hogs and Coach Pitt hasn't changed. After lots of thought, prayer and conversations with my family I realize I only get to go through this process once in my life and have a long way to go before I put pen to paper. With that being said I will be de-committing from Arkansas in order to take more time and rest assure I make the right decision for my future."

While coach Sam Pittman has been on a downward slope with recruiting, you shouldn't put much stock into this. McWhorter committed extremely early. National signing day for the 2026 class isn't until February 4, 2026, over 18 months away.

He's wanted to be a Hog for years. When he was thirteen, his family bought a billboard with the phrase, "Coach Pittman, I want to be a Hog," in Fayetteville. As a kid not even from the Natural state, you'd have to really want to come to Arkansas to pull a stunt like that. The journey is part of the fun for recruits, getting to travel and see the country while being treated like an MVP each time you visit. Why should he miss out just because he knows where he wants to go?

McWhorter could find a better fit on his journey, but don't be surprised if he recommits after taking a few official visits.

McWhorter currently has 28 offers, including some notable offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, and Texas among others.
