Texas A&M outlasts Arkansas for the final time in AT&T Stadium
It's finally over. That cursed, frustrating game in AT&T Stadium is finally behind us.
The Southwest Classic in Arlington, Texas, has given Arkansas fans nothing but heartache since 2009. Arkansas finishes 4-9 against the Aggies in that building, with some of the worst losses — or at least the most infuriating losses — in Razorback history. You can chalk today's game up as one of those, as Arkansas outgains another opponent just to lose the game.
Texas A&M wins the final installment 21-17, giving Sam Pittman a record of 6-16 in one-possession games. Arkansas's offense recorded 385 total yards to A&M's 293. They didn't even run the ball well, gaining 279 yards through the air, which is surprising, seeing as Taylen Green hardly had time to throw the ball.
The game ended with a strip sack on Green, who didn't feel the backside pressure coming. However, you can't be too mad at him. He played much better against Texas A&M than he did Auburn. He went 23/41 for 279 yards and a touchdown. Of course, the 56 percent completion looks bad, but how many times was Green flushed out of the pocket to find no one open downfield?
One the other hand, the defense was spectacular. It gave up a couple of big plays in the first half and one good drive in the second, but that was enough to win the game because the offense couldn't put the ball in the endzone, but over all, it was a very good performance, holding the best rushing attack in the SEC to 134 yard with 88 yards coming in the fouth quarter.
I'm not sure what the remedy for this team is, but if they don't find it soon, they can kiss their chance at a bowl game goodbye.
