2. Nick Smith Jr.

The hype surrounding Nick Smith Jr. was something that rivals any other player's of any sport in Arkansas history. Smith was the consensus No. 1 player in the nation out of high school and became the highest-rated recruit to commit to Arkansas basketball.

But like most good things that happen to Razorbacks, it went completely sideways. Smith dealt with an injury for most of the season, playing in only 17 of 36 games. He opted for the NBA after Arkansas lost to UCONN in the Sweet Sixteen after one season with the Hogs. And to be completely honest, he should have. Smith was talented enough to go to the NBA G League right out of high school and make millions. Instead, he chose his home state's college, and probably hurt his draft stock along the way. He was still selected in the first round with the Hornets 27th overall pick.

Although his time was limited, he was the third-leading scorer in points per game with 12.5. He shot 37.6 percent on the floor and 33.8 percent from three, with 1.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. He also his this game-winning shot to push Arkansas over Auburn in the SEC Tournament.
