It's been 114 years in the making, and after all those years waiting, Arkansas State received just what it asked for.

The flagship program of the Natural State faced its northeast counterpart for the first time, and it went exactly how you'd think it would. Arkansas beat down the Red Wolves, 56-14.

Except for giving up a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and an interception, the Razorbacks were nearly perfect in the first quarter. However, Arkansas gave ASU life in the second and gave the Red Wolves 10:58 of the quarter. Arkansas finished with another touchdown to go up 35-14 before halftime, but the Hogs made a huge statement coming out of the locker room.

Arkansas put up back-to-back scores in the third quarter and took up over eight minutes of game time. Again, Arkansas State had a double-digit time of possession, but the Hogs held the Red Wolves on the one-yard line on their longest possession.

The Hog won't have to worry about the backup quarterback for a second season in a row as K.J. Jackson took the reins of the offense and marched 99 yards in eight plays, with a perfect 3/3 for 70 yards and a touchdown to burn 4:16 off the clock.

Arkansas' starting quarterback Taylen Green, however, had a tremendous day. Apart from two first-half interceptions, he threw for 239 yards and four touchdowns while completing 65 percent of his passes. He also holds fourth place in most rushing yards in a game by a quarterback in Arkansas history with 161 yards and a touchdown.

While the past two weeks have been nice, beating up on smaller teams, the first real test is the upcoming Saturday. Arkansas will travel to Oxford, Miss., to play Ole Miss. The Rebels beat up on their own cupcake last week, but struggled with Kentucky today, which barely beat Toledo on opening day.
