The Hogs looked exactly like they were supposed to against Little Brother... for the first quarter. A few key mistakes kept the Red Wolves in the game, but the Razorbacks lead ASU after one half, 35-14.
The historic matchup between Arkansas and Arkansas State started with a bang. The Razorbacks marched down the field, 75 yards, in two plays. Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green hit O'Mega Blake for a 22-yard strike on the first play from scrimmage. Then rising star Mike Washington lived up to the preseason hype with a 53-yard touchdown run down the home sideline.
Arkansas would grow the lead to 28-7 after scoring on the following three possessions. However, after the Hogs' second drive, the Red Wolves showed off their speed with a 98-yard touchdown.

However, Arkansas slowed down in the last five minutes of the quarter. ASU's quarterback Jaylen Raynor traded interceptions with Green, followed by Arkansas and A-State trading punts.
In the second quarter, Arkansas State soaked up as much clock as possible, milking 10:58 and scoring another touchdown and cutting the lead in half. Green helped the Red Wolves keep possession in the second with another interception.
However, Arkansas capped off the half with a 12-play, 83-yard touchdown drive to extend the lead to 35-14.
