Hog fans wasted little time poking fun after Arkansas crushed A-State

Fun times in the Natural State for Hog fans. Not so much for the university across the state, though.

Everyone knows the Razorbacks own the Natural State, but a vocal group of A-State fans in Northeast Arkansas has long wanted to grow their program’s profile. So when Arkansas State finally got its shot at the Hogs, fireworks were inevitable — if not on the field, then all over social media.

Arkansas crushed the Red Wolves 56-14 in their first-ever meeting, setting the tone from the opening snap. The Hogs needed just two plays to reach the end zone, capped by a 53-yard burst from running back Mike Washington. Outside of one sustained touchdown drive and a special teams lapse that led to another score, Arkansas’ defense kept ASU bottled up, holding them to just 285 total yards while the Razorbacks rolled up 630.

After such a dominating performance, Arkansas fans had their fun on X (Twitter), with memes and gifs abound.

Arkansas vs Arkansas State: Social Media Reactions

Arkansas State's official account had been hyping the Hogs and Red Wolves' first matchup all week long. However, it hasn't made a single post since its pregame hype video. ASU has posted a single highlight or score update, including the final one. Many Arkansas fans noticed and have let them slide.

Gary Burton Jr., Weekend anchor for KARK Channel 4 News, loved the game. His father played for A-State in the '80s, but loves the Razorbacks as well. He thinks the game needs to happen more often and that it's "great for the state." It's hard to argue with him because War Memorial Stadium looked like it did in its prime, with over 55,000 Arkansans in attendance. Traffic was so bad that even members of the media and the Razorback team itself were late to the stadium.
