The Heisman Trophy has long avoided Arkansas football. Its best chance at winning the vaunted award was with Razorback legend Darren McFadden, but the voters snubbed him twice. The Hogs haven't come close to earning the trophy since, but according to one senior journalist and a former Heisman Trophy winner, Arkansas may have a shot this season.
Robert Griffin III, Chris Low think Taylen Green belong in the Heisman race
Senior national college football reporter for On3 and former senior writer for ESPN, Chris Low, and former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III have Arkansas' Taylen Green as a top-10 Heisman front-runner in their respective lists.
Through just two contests, Green leads the nation in touchdowns per game. Only Western Kentucky’s Maverick McIvor has matched his total, but he needed an extra game to do it. Griffin III also highlighted Green’s rushing ability. On his podcast, Out of Pocket with RGIII, the former Baylor quarterback pointed to Green’s 151 rushing yards and a touchdown against Arkansas State as a key reason he ranks him No. 7 on his list.
Low, on the other hand, never provided his list, but he did critique his own network. "Don't blame me, Hog Fans," wrote Low. "I had Taylen Geen solidly in my top 10."
Instead, On3 Sports put three SEC quarterbacks ahead of Green, including South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers, who hasn't impressed much in the first two games. Also gracing the list are John Mateer from Oklahoma and Garrett Mussmeier.

While Green's success in the first two weeks has been impressive—despite the level of competition—Low liked the Arkansas play-caller from the beginning. Like That SEC Podcast, he's been a part of the Taylen Green hype train since before the season started.
"Said before the season, Taylen Green would be a serious problem for opposing defenses, especially in his second season under Bobby Petrino, and that’s what we’ve seen so far," wrote Low.
Green has a chance to prove them right Saturday as the Hogs face their first true test. The last time Arkansas met Ole Miss, the Rebels rolled to a 63-31 win. This time, however, the Razorbacks might have an opening. Ole Miss quarterback Austin Simmons has looked shaky through his first two games, giving Arkansas a real shot to pull off the upset on the road.
