Wells helped Rogers High School win the Arkansas 6A State Championship in 2021 during his senior year and was named the Gatorade Player of the Year. He spent one year at UA Rich Mountain where he was named to the 2022 all-region team before transferring to Little Rock.
Wells was an All-American in his sophomore season in 2023 after leading the nation with a 1.65 ERA across 93 innings pitched. The Rogers, Ark. native started all 15 games he appeared in while posting a 7-4 record with 80 strikeouts. He tossed two complete games while holding opposing hitters to a batting average of .216.
Wells registered a 5-3 record in 2024 while helping the Trojans win the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season title with an ERA of 5.91 in 64 innings of work across 15 starts. He put up a 3-8 record this season in 2025, but it was good enough to get Little Rock into the OVC Tournament with a 19-32 (8-16 OVC) record.
The Trojans won five games in four days to win the OVC Tournament and clinch a spot in the NCAA Tournament with a record of 24-32. Little Rock ended up in the Baton Rouge Regional and almost pulled off a massive upset over LSU in the regional final, finishing the year with a 27-34 record
Wells ends his career with the Trojans within the Top 10 in program history with 46 starts (4th), 244.1 innings pitched (7th), 15 wins (6th), 245 strikeouts (8th), and a .500 career win percentage (5th).
