Former Arkansas football wideout Dazmin James has gone viral for a photo he posted on Instagram, comparing himself now to when he arrived in California in January.

After Arkansas' beatdown of Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl, James looked like the next big-time receiver for Arkansas, and the centerpiece to build the position upon with Ardrew Armstrong, Isaac TeSlaa, and Isaiah Sategna leaving Fayetteville after the 2024 season. However, the Clayton, N.C. native had other plans. Following his three-reception, one-touchdown, and 137-yard performance against the Red Raiders, James jumped into the Transfer Portal and headed west to the University of California.

Over the last six months, James has been in the weight room, bulking up for the upcoming season, and the transformation has been remarkable. A post from an Arkansas fan account—one that's reached over 11.2 million views on X—shows the incredible transformation.

James spent two seasons with the Razorbacks. He redshirted his freshman season and played in only eight games last year as a sophomore. However, he only recorded any stats in his final game against Texas Tech.

The Golden Bears desperately needed receivers, as only one of their 11 top pass catchers returned in 2025. With his bulk up and the lack of returning players, James could be a good option for Cal. In its inaugural season in the ACC, Cal finished with a 6-7 record, highlighted by a significant loss to Florida State, whose only victory against a Power Four team came at the expense of the Golden Bears.
