CBS Sports gives Taylen Green sensible ranking after On3 disrespect

Year two under Bobby, but still rankings Taylen below No. 10? Bold strategy.

With SEC Media Days wrapping up in Atlanta, the talking season is winding down as football season quickly approaches. However, it's not over yet, with various polls and lists still being published, including the media's order of finish poll and All-SEC Selections.

One such list that made a mark among fans, especially Razorback fans, was Andy Staples of On3 Sports sharing his top-10 quarterbacks in the SEC. Controversially, Arkansas' Taylen Green wasn't even in the top 10. However, Staples put Florida's DJ Lagway, LaNorris Sellers of South Carolina, and Marcel Reed at A&M over the second-year Hog QB. All three were statistically far worse than Green.

Shockingly, Staples put Lagway and Sellers over players like Arch Manning at Texas and even LSU's Garrett Nussmeier. At least Staples had a good sense to put Reed at No. 10.

However, he's not the only one putting out QB rankings. A much more sensible list came from CBS Sports writer Brad Crawford. Instead of dropping Green in the bottom third of the SEC after throwing for 3,154 yards, 15 touchdowns, and rushing for 602 yards, eight touchdowns, while standing behind a leaky offensive line and dealing with a nagging injury for the last eight games of the season, Crawford reasonably ranks Green as No. 7.

"His plan is to take the SEC by storm and insert himself into the conversation on the league's best QB's," Crawford wrote. "Green quietly put together a terrific year last fall with offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino calling the shots, eclipsing 3,000 yards passing and 600 yards on the ground. ... Green is one name NFL scouts have mentioned just outside of the elite tier for 2026."

Here are Crawford's SEC QB rankings:
