Natural State QB names Arkansas in top-7 list with two other SEC Teams

Arkansas and two other SEC teams are in the running to land a one of the best dual-threat QBs in the country. And he just happens to live in the Natural State.

One of the most highly anticipated quarterback prospects hailing from the Natural State in a while has picked his top seven teams. That QB is Kane Archer from Greenwood, Ark., and he's named Arkansas as one of his top schools.

The 2026 recruit is a dual-threat QB with a very accurate arm. In the 2024-25 season, Archer threw for 3,880 yards and (no, it's not a typo) 57 touchdowns. In addition, he led the Bulldogs in rushing, averaging 9.8 yards a carry for 795 yards and ten more touchdowns.

Despite the overwhelming stats, Archer isn't a favorite of the recruiting sites. 247Sports rates him as an 85 3-star and the tenth-best player in the state. ESPN and Rivals also rank him a lower-tier 3-star. However, On3 Sports lists him as the tenth-best quarterback in the country.

To get to his list of schools, Archer whittled down offers from Michigan, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida State, and more. The other six joining Arkansas are SMU, UCF, Louisville, Appalachian State, and two SEC teams that have given the Razorbacks recruiting trouble the last few seasons.

Ole Miss and Mizzou — at least partially — have sunk their claws in the Greenwood product. In the very recent past, the Rebels have decimated the Hogs in the transfer portal, while the Tigers have swiped Arkansas's highest recruits. If there are any other of his top-7 schools to be weary about, it's those two.

If indeed Archer does call the Hogs when the time comes, he'll join a host of Bulldogs-turned-Razorbacks, like fellow QB Tyler Wilson, wideout Drew Morgan, and his brother Grant Morgan, to name a few.
