To open their college baseball season, the No. 5 Arkansas Razorbacks 2-0 (0-0 SEC) faced the Washington State Cougars 0-2 (0-0 PAC 12) in a doubleheader at Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville. Given how elite Arkansas baseball is, Razorback Nation is always ready for the team to hit the field. The anticipation for this baseball season is no different: Arkansas fans are eager for the Hogs to create a magical season, especially given that the football team did not please many fans, and many have not been satisfied with the basketball team's performance.

On a cold day in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the Razorbacks were cold, literally and metaphorically. In this first game of the doubleheader, the bats stayed cold for most of the game. The Razorbacks' pitching was outstanding, as expected. ESPN disclosed that the Hogs surrendered only two runs on six hits. The Hogs' bats were equally as poor as the Cougars' bats: they only had six hits. However, the Razorbacks scored one more run than Washington State in the tenth inning, resulting in a 3-2 win in the first game.

In the second game of the doubleheader, the Hogs' bats caught fire significantly. Riley McFerran at Hawg Beat reported that Arkansas defeated Washington State 14-2 in seven innings, ending in a run-rule. At the end of the second game, fans and media said many positive things about the Razorbacks beating the Cougars twice in the doubleheader.
