The 12th week of the 2025 NCAA D-I Baseball season is getting more interesting as we close in on the final weeks of the regular season. It is crunch time for a lot of teams, not only to get into the tournament but also to have the opportunity to host a regional.

SEC Baseball power rankings: Week 12

Top 5

Arkansas and Texas flipped places at first and second place, respectively, after facing off against each other over the weekend at Baum-Walker Stadium. The Longhorns first took an 11-2 win over the Prairie View A&M Panthers on Tuesday at home at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, while the Razorbacks had their midweek game against the Missouri State Bears get cancelled due to storms in Springfield, MO.

Arkansas took the series opener on Thursday in dominant fashion, 9-0, thanks to an electric pitching performance by Zach Root. The Hogs took the series on Friday, 6-1, with another amazing performance by the pitching staff. Saturday’s series finale was quite the opposite, with Arkansas outslugging Texas, 13-8, to complete the sweep. Reese Robinett hit two home runs and drove in six runs on the day to lead the Razorbacks to their first sweep of a No. 1-ranked team since 2001.

LSU and Tennessee remained in third and fourth place, respectively.

The Tigers started off the week with a 15-2 run-rule win over the Southeastern Louisiana Lions at home at Alex Box Stadium before traveling to Bryan-College Station, Texas, to take on the Texas A&M Aggies at Blue Bell Park. LSU and Texas A&M’s series opener was postponed to Saturday, making it a doubleheader to open up the series.

The Aggies took the series opener, 3-1, thanks to a strong pitching performance, but the Tigers took the second game, 2-1, to even up the series, backed by a complete game by Anthony Eyanson. LSU held a 4-2 lead in Sunday’s rubber match going into the bottom of the eighth inning, but Texas A&M rallied with a four-spot to pick up the win, 6-4, and take the series.

The Volunteers started out with grinding out a 7-5 midweek victory over the Northern Kentucky Norse on Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium before welcoming the Auburn Tigers for a three-game series. Auburn dominated in the series opener on Friday, 6-1, to build its momentum. Tennessee evened up the series in an epic 11-inning battle with a 5-4 win on Saturday, thanks to a pinch-hit walk-off RBI single by Chris Newstrom in the bottom of the 11th. The Tigers came away with the series victory on Sunday, 8-1, in a shortened seven-inning game.

Vanderbilt and Ole Miss switched places at fifth and sixth, respectively.

The Commodores picked up a 5-2 midweek win over the Indiana State Sycamores at Charles Hawkins Field before welcoming the Alabama Crimson Tide for a three-game series. Vanderbilt crushed Alabama in Friday’s series opener in run-rule fashion, 12-2, in eight innings. The Crimson Tide rallied back on Saturday to even up the series, 5-2, thanks to some big-time pitching. Alabama was on its way to a series victory with a 7-2 lead going into the bottom of the eighth.

The Commodores put up three runs to cut the lead to two on a solo shot by Braden Holcomb and a two-run home run by Colin Barczi. In the bottom of the ninth inning, Vanderbilt tied up the game on a two-run double by Brodie Johnston with two outs. Holcomb came up to the plate and launched a walk-off two-run bomb to complete the comeback and give the Commodores the series win, 9-7.

Middle of the pack

The Rebels began the week by taking a 6-3 win over the Austin Peay Governors on Tuesday at home at Swayze Field before traveling to Norman, Okla., to take on the Oklahoma Sooners in a three-game weekend series. Oklahoma swiped the series opener on Friday with a 2-0 shutout victory and took the series on Saturday, 5-3. Ole Miss salvaged the series finale on Sunday with a 7-3 win but needs to get back on track.

Georgia and Alabama also swapped spots at seventh and eighth, respectively.

The Bulldogs started by taking a 9-2 victory over the Kennesaw State Owls on Tuesday at Foley Field before making the trip to Columbia, MO., to take on the Missouri Tigers in a three-game series. Georgia took the series opener on Friday convincingly, 9-2, but had to make a comeback on Saturday to take the series in a 5-2 victory. The Bulldogs completed the sweep on Sunday, 4-2, but not without having to put two runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 2-2 tie.

The Crimson Tide dropped two of the three to the Vanderbilt Commodores over the weekend, as previously mentioned.

Auburn and Oklahoma did not move up or down in the rankings at ninth and 10th, respectively.

The Tigers enjoyed taking two out of three from the Tennessee Volunteers on the road over the weekend, as previously mentioned. Auburn also picked up a 3-0 shutout win over the Samford Bulldogs at the Hoover Met in Hoover, Ala., to keep its hopes of hosting a regional alive.

The Sooners had their Tuesday midweek game against the Wichita State Shockers cancelled due to weather but took two out of three from the Ole Miss Rebels over the weekend at home at L. Dale Mitchell Park, as previously mentioned.

Florida, Texas A&M and Mississippi State all moved up one spot each in rankings at 11th, 12th and 13th, respectively.

The Gators made the trip to Columbia, S. C., to face off against the South Carolina Gamecocks with plenty of rest due to not playing a midweek game. Florida took the series opener on Friday, 9-5, but had to wait to take the series with Saturday’s game getting suspended due to rain. The Gators took the series in dominant fashion, 22-3, with half of their runs coming from an 11-run top of the ninth rally. Florida completed the sweep with an 8-0 shutout victory in a shortened seven-inning game to improve to 33-16 and 10-14 in league play.

Bottom of the barrel

The Aggies started off the week with a 13-6 midweek win over the Lamar Cardinals at home on Tuesday before taking two out of three from the LSU Tigers over the weekend, as previously mentioned.

The Bulldogs began their week with an 18-5 run-rule victory over the Memphis Tigers at home before welcoming the Kentucky Wildcats to Dudy Noble Field. Mississippi State nabbed the series opener on Friday with a 14-4 run-rule win and took the series on Saturday with a 6-5 walk-off victory in 11 innings on an RBI single by Joe Powell. The Bulldogs completed the sweep on Sunday with a 6-1 win to send the Wildcats packing back to Lexington, Ky.

Kentucky fell three spots from 11th to 14th in our standings after getting swept by Mississippi State, as previously mentioned. It also did not help that the Wildcats lost to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Tuesday at Nick Denes Field, 6-4, in Bowling Green, Ky.

South Carolina stayed at 15th in our rankings after getting swept by Florida at home, as previously mentioned. The Gamecocks were able to pick up a 5-3 win against Charleston Southern at Founders Park but are hurting for an NCAA Tournament bid.

Missouri remains at the bottom of the list after getting swept by Georgia, as previously mentioned. The Tigers also lost a midweek game to the Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday on the road, 9-3, at Hoglund Ballpark. Missouri is still the only team in the SEC without a conference win at 0-24.
