The 2026-27 college basketball season is quickly approaching, and the Arkansas Razorbacks basketball team is in a better spot than it's been since the heights of the Nolan Richardson era. With John Calipari at the helm, the Hogs are bringing 247Sports' No. 1-ranked recruiting class to Fayetteville, raising expectations for his third-year squad through the roof.
However, if the Arkansas Razorbacks want to defend their SEC Tournament championship, they'll first need to prove themselves against the rest of the conference.
Arkansas Basketball reveals 2026-27 SEC schedule
According to the official Arkansas Razorbacks website, Arkansas and the SEC have unveiled the Hogs' conference slate for the 2026-27 season -- and it's shaping up to be one of the most exciting stretches of Calipari's tenure.
For the second straight year, Arkansas will open SEC play at home in Bud Walton Arena. The Razorbacks welcome Missouri to Fayetteville on Jan. 2 before traveling to South Carolina for their first road game on Jan. 5 or 6. From there, the Hogs return home for a major showdown with Alabama on Jan. 9.
The Hogs' matchup against the Crimson Tide will be one to watch. Alabama head coach Nate Oats has won six consecutive games against Arkansas, including its last three trips to Bud Walton Arena. Most recently, the Razorbacks lost a double-overtime heartbreaker at Alabama that saw Darius Acuff Jr. break the freshman record for points against a ranked opponent (49).

The schedule doesn't get any easier after that. Arkansas travels to Texas A&M and Tennessee for back-to-back road games before hosting Georgia on Jan. 19 or 20. The Razorbacks then face Texas in Austin on Jan. 23 and close January with home games against LSU and Mississippi State.
Three of Arkansas' final four January games will be in Fayetteville, which should give Arkansas a chance to build some early momentum in conference play. The Razorbacks finished 8-1 at home during SEC play last season, and if they want to replicate their success from a season ago, they'll need to maintain their home dominance.
Following a midweek bye on Feb. 2 or 3, the Razorbacks will play four of their next six games away from home. That stretch begins at Vanderbilt on Feb. 6, followed by a home game against Ole Miss and a trip to Tuscaloosa for Arkansas' second meeting with Alabama.
The Hogs return to Fayetteville to host Auburn on Feb. 16 or 17 before heading back on the road for consecutive games against Kentucky and Missouri. Considering the Hogs' rivalries with these two programs, the Razorbacks' games at Rupp Arena and Mizzou Arena could be one of the most difficult stretches of Arkansas' entire regular season.
From there, the Razorbacks will close SEC play with three tough opponents. Florida travels to Bud Walton Arena on Feb. 27, Arkansas visits LSU on March 2 or 3, and Oklahoma comes to Fayetteville for the regular-season finale on March 6.
Tipoff times, television information, and the exact dates of Arkansas' flex games will be announced later. The SEC Tournament returns to Bridgestone Arena in Nashville from March 10-14, where the Razorbacks will try to win back-to-back SEC championships for the first time in school history.
Calipari has assembled a roster capable of competing for much more than another conference title, but the SEC schedule won't give his talented incoming class much time to settle in. If Arkansas can survive its demanding road stretches and maintain its domination at Bud Walton Arena, then Jordan Smith Jr., Billy Richmond III, and the rest of the Hogs could realistically enter March as one of the favorites to reach the Final Four.
