After upsetting the then No. 12 and now No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats 15-7 (4-5 SEC) in Rupp Arena, the Arkansas Razorbacks 14-8 (3-6 SEC) faced questions about whether they could use the momentum from the victory to defeat the Texas Longhorns 15-8 (4-6 SEC) in the Moody Center in Austin. From the beginning of the game to the end, Arkansas revealed that it is a new team approaching the remainder of the year as a new season.
In the first half, Arkansas's defense was even more impressive and aggressive than it was against Kentucky. The Hogs shot the ball well in the first half, bearing a key similarity to their shooting performance against the Wildcats. Excellent defense and shooting led to the Razorbacks taking an 11-point lead into halftime, 35-24. In the second half, Arkansas continued its dominance until the final minutes of the game.
As predicted by the present writer, Texas would go on some runs that Arkansas would have to weather. Although the Longhorns cut the Hogs' huge lead significantly, they dug themselves in too deep a hole to overtake the Razorbacks. Therefore, even though Texas won the second half against Arkansas, 46-43, Arkansas won the game by eight points, 78-70. According to ESPN, Texas shot 34.4% from the field. Such poor shooting will not give a team a true chance of winning against the talented teams, top to bottom, in the SEC.
After such a quality win, an upset, on the road in Texas, fans and media were genuinely impressed with the Arkansas Razorbacks.

They’re 1-0 so far with a home date against Alabama coming this Saturday. Don’t look now but Mr. February, Coach Cal, has his Hogs playing their best ball at the right time.
Aaron Torres, a Fox Sports writer, explained that with this win, the Hogs' chances of making the NCAA Tournament are "VERY much alive."

Said weeks ago, in the SEC - and all the Q1 opportunities it provides - no one is really out of the tourney picture.
Hogs now 14-8 right now and I think a 5-4 finish puts them in the Big Dance.

Jackson Collier, an Arkansas basketball beat writer at Hawg Beat, argued that this win puts the Razorbacks in the NCAA Tournament at this point in the season.

Arkansas hangs on after leading by 23 at one point. Razorbacks win back-to-back road Q1 games for the first time since 2021, when they defeated Kentucky and Missouri back to back
Hogs move to 14-8 (3-6) and should be in the field for now. Thoughts?
Razorback Hobbs, another passionate Arkansas fan, noted that the Razorbacks beat two of their "biggest rivals" with this win: Texas and the referees.
