Arkansas landed a literal huge transfer from Oregon
During today's press conference, Sam Pittman seemed confident in Arkansas's ability to build back after 25 athletes entered the portal. After the Hogs' recent portal addition, Pittman may be telling the truth. Former four-star recruit JacQawn McRoy has chosen to transfer to Arkansas.
This isn't the first time the Razorback and McRoy have crossed paths. The true freshman was a priority recruiting target for Arkansas in the 2024 class. When the time came to choose, McRoy picked Oregon.
At 6-foot-8-inches and 365 pounds, he's literally a huge get from the transfer portal. As a recruit, 247Sports labeled him a 95-rated four-star. McRoy was a top-100 national prospect and the ninth offensive tackle prospect.
National recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna for 247Sport had this to say about McRoy:
"Displays good foot and body quickness for his size, shows the ability to explode into both his run and pass sets...
Shows the ability to play in space at the second level and doesn’t appear to be limited to only playing in a power scheme at the next level. Reactionary athlete that bends well for his size and possesses some quick twitch traits in the upper and lower body."
McRoy redshirted with the Ducks. So, when he arrives in Fayetteville, he'll have four years of eligibility left.
This is a great start for Pittman and the Hogs, but there's still a long way to go before Arkansas creates a roster close to where it was at the beginning of the season.
