When the portal opened, so did the floodgates to Arkansas's outgoing transfers. However, a few had already left the team before the final game against Missouri, including tight end Ty Washington.
After playing Mississippi State, head Coach Sam Pittman informed the media that two players were no longer with the team. Var'Keyes Gumms and Washington were removed that weekend for unspecified reasons. Both players joined popular podcasts to share their side of the story, but specifically for Washington, he stated his refusal to play against the Bulldogs was grounds for his dismissal.
Life in the portal didn't last long for him, though. On Christmas day, the former Razorback found a new home in the Hoosier State, committing to Norte Dame. The Irish just finished mopping the floor with instate rival Indiana in the first round of the College Football Playoffs, so it's a massive landing sport for the talented TE. He's the second Hog to transfer to a current CFP team after Brad Spence committed to Texas.
Interestingly, Washington will return to Fayetteville in the gold and blue next season. In 2025, on September 20, Arkansas will play Notre Dame in the nonconference schedule. It will be the first ever meeting between the programs.
