Arkansas faithful largely apathetic on social media while A&M fans poke fun

The Razorbacks put on another inspiring, yet insufficient performance against the No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies. Last week against Tennessee, it was the offense that couldn't get out of its own way. Tonight, it was the defense.

A&M racked up the kind of gaudy numbers every halfway competent offense has managed against this defense all season. With 497 total yards, the Aggies rushed for 217 and passed for 280. That's no different than any other night. However, it was moments like Texas A&M's fourth-down attempt in the fourth quarter.

With only one yard needed for the first down, Texas A&M's running back, EJ Smith — the son of legendary Dallas Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith — ran into the back of his own offensive lineman. But every Arkansas player had their heads down, Smith regrouped, bounced the ball outside to convert.

That's not the worst of it, though. The Aggies were perfect on fourth, converting on three attempts.

While that's perhaps the biggest reason Arkansas walked off the field with another loss, the coaching at the end of the game left a bad taste in the mouths of a lot of Hog fans online.

With only two minutes left, Arkansas needed to drive 50 yards, attempt an onside kick, recover it, and get within field goal range just for the chance to tie the ball game. Bobby Petrino kept almost all of his timeouts in his pocket while the Hogs drove the field. Arkansas finally scored with 10 seconds left, which made the onside kick nearly useless, even if the Razorbacks would have recovered the ball (they didn't).

Here are some of the postgame reactions from the Arkansas fans on social media:

Of course, it would be an SEC game if the victorious team didn't poke fun at the loser. However, Texas A&M's official account went above and beyond with its Bobby Petrino themed graphic.
