Chalk up another heartbreaking defeat for the Arkansas Razorbacks in Columbia, Missouri.

Arkansas' 28-21 loss at the hands of No. 21 Missouri makes the Razorbacks' record at Faurot Field an almost unbelievable 0-7.

It was another case of Arkansas making too many mistakes, the Tigers being opportunistic and Arkansas coming up shy in a one-score game - a staple of the Sam Pittman era.

Pittman has now lost all three of his games in Columbia as Head Hog by a combined 11 points, including a 50-48 loss in 2020 and a 29-27 heartbreaker in 2022.

The Razorbacks played with a solid Missouri squad throughout the game, and held a 14-10 lead late in the third quarter. But it was a game-changing fumble by Ja'Quinden Jackson that changed the momentum and led to a Tiger touchdown on the ensuing possession.

While Arkansas took a 21-20 lead with 4:19 to play, precedent indicated that a defensive collapse was imminent. The sequence of events that followed proved the precedent to be a valid warning, as Travis Williams' group surrendered 75 yards on eight plays, as well as a two-point conversion for Mizzou to pull out to a 28-21 advantage.

Arkansas' offense marched valiantly down the field, but couldn't find the end zone.

It was a game that encapsulates not just Arkansas' history in Columbia, but their history in the Battle Line Rivalry as a whole. In 2016, Bret Bielema and the Hogs collapsed in Columbia, while Bielema's final game as the head coach at Arkansas saw Mizzou come out on top in a Fayetteville shootout.

Arkansas only boasts two victories over Missouri in the last 10 years, a mark that confuses Razorback fans who feel the distance between the quality of the two programs is much narrower than the results suggest.

Arkansas' latest heartbreaking loss to Missouri is frustrating by itself, but it's even more gut-wrenching when put on the shelf alongside countless other unexplainable and inexcusable defeats at the hands of a Missouri program that has no business continually breaking the hearts of Razorback nation.
