The Arkansas Razorbacks 11-6 (0-4 SEC) took on their bitter rivals, the LSU Tigers 12-5 (1-3 SEC), in Baton Rouge, in a contest where both teams sought their first conference win of the season. Entering the game, the Tigers and Razorbacks lost their opening three conference games.

For much of the game, the Arkansas Razorbacks showed the competitive fire necessary to succeed against the ultra-talented SEC opponents on their schedule, although LSU is one of the least talented teams in the conference.

Unfortunately, the Hogs have not demonstrated an ability to sustain such competitive fire. Although the lead could have been larger, Arkansas took a two-point lead into halftime. In the second half, the Razorbacks’ poor shooting haunted them again. ESPN disclosed that the Hogs shot 39.1% from the field. With such horrible shooting, the Hogs cannot defeat any team in the SEC. Also, Arkansas failed to play defense without fouling, giving LSU a chance to make 26 of 28 free throw attempts, 92.9%.

Poor shooting and defense resulted in another conference loss for the Razorbacks, as LSU edged them 78-74. After the game, fans and media expressed deep frustration with the Arkansas Razorbacks, especially with their head coach, John Calipari.
