After dominating the University of Central Arkansas in its last game and upsetting the Michigan Wolverines in Madison Square Garden in New York, the Arkansas Razorbacks 9-2 (0-0 SEC) returned to Bud Walton Arena to face the North Carolina A&T Aggies 3-9 (0-1 CAA).
Although the Aggies came into this game significantly overmatched, the team’s star, Landon Glasper, a native of Fayetteville, Arkansas, is a player that the Razorbacks had to devote serious attention to, given he averages 19.0 points per game. Therefore, Glasper arrived in his hometown with added motivation to perform well.
The Hogs dominated the first half, taking a 54-31 lead into halftime. In the second half, Arkansas cooled down, occasionally losing focus. Arkansas only won the second half 41-36. John Calipari would have liked to see his team maintain the same intensity it had in the first half. The Razorbacks did not shoot from behind the perimeter well, only making six of 24 shots from behind the arch, as disclosed by ESPN.
Johnell Davis was injured and did not play today. In his absence, the Hogs were able to dominate the North Carolina A&T Aggies, winning 95-67. After a convincing win, fans and media praised the Arkansas Razorbacks for handling the Aggies as the team was expected to do.
