Arkansas returns home after a deflating series loss to LSU directly following the Hogs' routing of Texas the week before. For the regular season finale, the Razorbacks will take on former Arkansas assistant Tony Vitello and the Tennessee Volunteers.
The Vols have been on a late-season skid like the Hogs, but they're limping into Fayetteville with a four-series losing streak and losing five of their last six. At the end of March, Tennesse was the No. 1 team in the country, according to D1Baseball. Since then, it's dropped all the way to no. 17. With a loss this weekend, the Volunteers risk falling out of the top 25 altogether and potentially losing their spot to host a regional.
Arkansas, on the other hand, limped to the end of the season, too, but received a bump in energy when it swept the Longhorns. The Hogs have still lost four of their last five series. A series loss could mean Arkansas hosts a regional, but they could drop out of the top eight, meaning it would have to travel for their super regional if it makes it past the first round.
There's a lot at stake in the last series of the season in both dugouts. But when there's so much to play for, there's bound to be some fireworks during the games, too.
