The Portland Pilots (5-9) traveled to Baum-Walker Stadium in Fayetteville to open a weekend series against the No. 3 Arkansas Razorbacks (13-1). Although the Pilots are overmatched against the Hogs, they did not allow that reality to prevent them from attempting to prove they came to give this series their best effort as they scored two runs in the first inning. Unfortunately for the Pilots, their strong effort in the first inning was doubled by Arkansas: the Razorbacks scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning.
In the second inning, ESPN disclosed that the Hogs scored seven runs. The significant highlights of the second inning were Brent Iredale's massive home run to left field and Nolan Souza's home run to left field. Their powerful slugging helped the Arkansas Razorbacks take an 11-2 lead into the third inning. The third inning belonged to Kuhio Aloy: He blasted a two-run home run to center field. Kuhio Aloy continues to show that opposing pitchers will have tremendous difficulty with his power.
In the fifth inning, Brent Iredale homered again—this time, a three-run homer, which was a large part of a five-run inning. Portland finally added its third run of the game in the sixth inning, although the team could not stop Arkansas from adding two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Arkansas won a dominant run-rule victory 20-3 in the seventh inning. Arkansas fans and media expressed how impressed they were with the Razorbacks' performance on social media.

Through 14 games, Arkansas' team batting average (.325) is the highest for any Razorback team at this point in the season since 2005.

The last time an Arkansas team had a BA this high 14 games into a season, Nolan Souza had not been born yet. pic.twitter.com/BtR6vKeA5E
Michael Main, a Contributor at Best of Arkansas Sports, argued that Gabe Gaeckle "recovered well from a rough 1st inning to turn in a solid start." However, is surrendering two runs in the first inning really "a rough 1st inning"?
Arkansas opens its series against Portland with a dominant 20-3 win. Wehiwa Aloy and Brent Iredale hit two home runs apiece, with the Aussie driving in 8 RBI. Gabe Gaeckle recovered well from a rough 1st inning to turn in a solid start.
