Arkansas Football #2 Player to Watch: Myles Slusher

Let’s face it, Arkansas football fans: This pass defense has been suspect. The Hogs are allowing 351.0 yards per game through the air. But, of course, we all know it could have been more, too, were it not for many overthrown balls in both games.

It may just be Missouri State on the opposing sideline, but that shouldn’t be any cause for celebration in the secondary. Every Hog fan in that stadium today knows precisely what a Petrino offense can do throwing the football.

And Missouri state has been. Sure, they’ve only played Central Arkansas and Tennessee-Martin, but they have averaged 281.5 yards per game through the air with six touchdowns and no interceptions.

Wide Receiver Tyrone Scott is no slouch, either. He has 16 receptions, 256 yards, and three touchdowns in two games.

Petrino coached Razorback greats like Joe Adams, Greg Childs, Ryan Mallett, Tyler Wilson, and Jarius Wright. His passing game will come in ready to play.

It won’t be any easier for the Hogs with Jalen Catalon confirmed to miss the rest of the season. That’s why it is so critical that Slusher plays impactfully.

He recorded three tackles in the game against Cincinnati before leaving with an injury. He had 50 tackles last year to go along with multiple pass breakups.

The Hogs desperately need his ability to keep receivers in front of him and his sure-tackling. So let’s see what he can do today!
