Arkansas Basketball team survives and advances to Round 2 of March Madness

Survive and advance, that’s the name of the game for the Arkansas Basketball team as the begin their quest to a national championship.

The first of many tests came late March 17 in Buffalo, New York when the No. 4 seeded Hogs faced No. 13 seeded Vermont in the first round of the NCAA Men’s March Madness Tournament.

The disciplined Catamounts kept the Razorbacks on their toes the entire game. They executed their game plan to perfect, which was to try and make All-American JD Notae a non-factor in the game.

Vermont succeeded in doing that, for the first half at least. Notae was held to 0 points, in the first 20 minutes of the game. He stormed back in the second-half to score 17 points.

Stanley Umude was the leading scorer in the entire game, finishing with 21 points. Devo Davis (14 points) was also an important piece, especially in the first half when Notae was scoreless.

The Razorbacks held on, despite a furious fight to the finish from Vermont 75-71. So what’s next for the Razorbacks?

Arkansas has a day of rest and preparation before they play their next game. Their round two opponent was known earlier in the evening when No. 12 New Mexico State upset No. 5 UConn in the first round.

The game will be played Saturday, March 19 at 7:40 p.m. central time on TNT. Stay tuned to find out more about the big matchup between the No. 4 Arkansas Razorbacks  and No. 12 New Mexico Aggies.
