The Arkansas Basketball team has officially punched their ticket to the 2022 Men’s March Madness basketball tournament.

The Razorbacks have earned a No. 4 seed in the tournament and will be facing the No. 13 Vermont Catamounts (yes, the catamounts— it’s basically a cougar) March 17 at 8:20 p.m. CT on TNT. The game is set to be played in Buffalo, New York at the KeyBank Center along with several other teams in the tournament.

This will be the team’s first time facing Vermont in the history of the Arkansas basketball program, according to the Arkansas Athletic Department.

The Razorbacks will have a tough time facing Vermont, a team that finished 28-5 this season competing in the American East Conference.

Vermont has two big-time scorers in senior forward Ryan Davis and senior guard Ben Shungu. The two players average 17.2 ppg and 16.1 ppg, respectively.

Vermont went on two long winning streaks this season. A 14-game winning streak that lasted from Dec. 10 through Feb. 12 and another that was eight games in length, lasting Feb. 16 through March 12. In total, the Catamounts went 22-1 from Dec. 10 onward.

Notably, Vermont competed against then-ranked No. 21 Maryland in November, losing by just nine points (68-57) in a game Shungu scored 27 points.

Additionally, Arkansas and Vermont had a common opponent form the 2021-22 season: Northern Iowa. The Razorbacks dispatched NIU 93-80 Nov 17 while Vermont won 71-57 in their first game of the season on Nov. 11.

The Hogs enter the game as 4.5 point favorites against Vermond, according to WynnBet.
