Arkansas Basketball: $250k fine for court storming 100% worth it
The University of Arkansas received word that they have been fined $250,000 after fans flooded they court in the ensuing moments of the final buzzer sounding Feb. 8 inside Bud Walton Arena.
Something tells me Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek will gladly sign the check made payable to the Southeastern Conference.
There are a lot of reasons the Razorbacks should be proud to sign that quarter-million dollar check, primarily the fact that the Arkansas Basketball upset Auburn, the No. 1 team in all of college basketball in spectacular fashion.
Arkansas Basketball earned its biggest win in nearly 40 years
Entering the game against Auburn, the Razorbacks had not defeated a team ranked No. 1 since Feb. 1984 when Arkansas upset Michael Jordan and then-No. 1 ranked UNC.
The fans and the players had a ton of adrenaline coursing through their respective veins from the opening jump. The fans were camping out in front of Bud Walton arena in the days before the game.
The crowd was filled with a “white-out” t-shirt event, giving an added boost to the pageantry of playing the best team in the country.
The Razorback Basketball Twitter account reported the crowd hit 109 decibels at one point in the game, which is about as loud as a jet flying over your head at just 100 feet.
The fans inside BWA were going wild the entire game, reaching decibels of unthinkable levels. The record-setting crowd of 20,327 was the most ever inside the arena.
It’s safe to say that the fine is well worth it. This was a night that will be remembered by Hog fans for years to come.
