Arkansas Basketball Coach Eric Musselman has developed an incredible program in Fayetteville in the short time he’s been with the Razorbacks.

He’s taken the Hogs to the Elite 8 and scored two five-star high school All-Americans in the past year. He has an unparalleled ability to work the transfer portal and connect with young people (just check out his shoe game).

His ability to turn around the dormant Arkansas basketball program has reportedly caught the eye of basketball powerhouse Louisville.

Arkansas Basketball Coach Eric Musselman a candidate at Louisville?

Several media outlets are attaching the Razorback Coach with the vacant Louisville head coaching gig. The Cardinals fired Chris Mack just days ago after another underwhelming start to the season.

Sites like ESPN, The Athletic and the Louisville Courier Journal have all named Musselman as a candidate for the job. The details of those reports are behind a paywall.

However, there are some national sites that expound on Musselman to Louisville.

Sports Illustrated

Matthew McGavic writes that Musselman is very likely a candidate for Louisville. He wrote:

“In just his third year with the Razorbacks, he has already shown he is an elite college coach. He led Arkansas to the Elite Eight in 2021, and has signed two top-ten recruiting classes – including the No. 2 class of 2022 that includes McDonalds All-Americans Nick Smith Jr. and Jordan Walsh.”

Yahoo Sports

Taylor Jones of Yahoo names Nate Oats, Bruce Pearl and Musselman being named in rumors for the suddenly vacant Louisville head coaching position.

“The perks, according to George, seem very similar to what Musselman has at Arkansas. Musselman has an entire state passionate fans and alumni on his side. Not only does he have the support, but he keeps the Razorbacks competitive in a very tough SEC.”

If Musselman we’re to leave, he would like be taking his recruiting class with him and forcing the Hogs to start over from scratch once again.
