The Arkansas football team may be far removed from the Urban Meyer situation that just unraveled with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, but there are valuable lessons to be learned from this debacle.

Meyer’s removal as “Head Ball Coach” should make Razorback fans reflect on just how good we have it in Fayetteville.

Here are three lessons Arkansas fans should take away from the Urban Meyer being fired as the Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach.

It’s not always the big, flashy, blockbuster name that’s the best fit for your team

It was just over two years ago that Sam Pittman was hired as the head coach at Arkansas. There was a sizable contingency that questioned hiring an offensive line coach who had never really ran his own team as a head coach.

Fans, at the time, were hopeful for splashy hires like Lane Kiffin or Deion Sanders. No one really had Sam Pittman on their radar until a deal was basically already done.

Coach Prime and Kiffin have had success in their own right, but Pittman has proven to be an incredibly shrewd fit for the team. The fans love how relatable, honest and folksy he is and how he represents the state of Arkansas on the national stage.
